“The darkroom is a sacred place, where I recreate the familiar into something new. I call it Darkroom sorcery.” Nina’s work involves a two-stage process. First of all in the darkroom, capturing shadows, silhouettes, reflections, form, movement, texture and colour onto light sensitive paper often simultaneously, accidentally or with expert precision. Then using digital manipulation to retouch, enhance or create a narrative from each photogram component.
